World of warcraft rogues: guide to the stealthy poisoners of wow

by Mark Ardine

Here is something to chew on: nobody really likes a rogue in world of warcraft unless you are the one playing it that is. They have a bad boy reputation that precedes them. However here we shall not indulge in being so petty in judging those sneaky, ugly cowardly pvp cheats that infest the game. Not here.

This stealthy class is equipped with agile attributes and are specialized for melee or close combat damage dealing. In this role they more than capably match both Fury specced warrior or Druids with a talent tree full of Feral abilities. They have a good range of weapons they can use including daggers, maces, fist weapons and at later levels they can also specialize in the use of two handed weapons and swords.

They do not possess good armor in that they can only wear leather and cloth. Since they are regarded as a melee class you would think that this would be of great disadvantage to them. However this is not the case because they can tap into a large arsenal of other abilities that overcomes this hiccup.

Apart from the fact that Rogues can render themselves invisible to sneak up unnoticed, they have the capacity to stun, incapacitate and disorient opponents while in combat. And once they are at level 20 their power to maim kill and cripple is further boosted by their deadly usage of no less than 5 different types of poison that they can administer to their blades to cause instant, to medium and to long lasting damage to the enemies almost always resulting in their defeat or death.

What makes rogues so good at overcoming their opponents is their agility and speed. Their various talents combined with the arsenal of weapons at their disposal and the poisons that they administer to enemies, together with their agility speed and stealth allows rogues time and again to clinically rip to pieces any adversary crossing their path. If you spec your rogue correctly and make proper use of the poisons, stun abilities etc, you will no doubt continue the tradition of them being the most hated class in world of warcraft. But that is not something which rogues are bothered about as that is what makes them the cult class that it is: one that is either loved or (mostly) hated.
